DESIGNERS COREY DAMEN JENKINS AND ALEXA HAMPTON RIFF ON BOLD COLOR AND CIRCUS TENTS AT SHERLE WAGNER INTERNATIONAL SHOWROOM. By Billy Fong. Photography Jonathan Zizzo. T he two mega- personalities on dais at Sherle Wagner I n t e r n a t i o n a l showroom were equal parts hilarious and inspiring as they riffed on design as part of Texas Design Week Dallas. Divine designer Alexa Hampton shared with the audience that she had recently "been feeling my power and doing more color in my projects." It seems her new happy place is jellybean hues. The afternoon felt like she was settling in for a long-overdue catch-up with an old friend — in this case, Corey Damen Jenkins, both in the throes of finalizing their spectacular rooms for Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas, which opened three days hence. Hampton and Jenkins traded little nuggets of fabulousness, with Hampton imparting, "I have never met a back of a chair that I didn't want to upholster differently from the front of that same chair." For her space in the second annual Kips Bay Show House, Hampton created a rouge riot of a bedroom incorporating a dramatic map wall of Paris from a recent Gracie collaboration. For those who aren't familiar with Jenkins' work, let me just say two words: Lady's Library. That was the room he designed to great acclaim for the 2019 Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York City. For his Dallas show house, Jenkins was inspired by Cirque du Soleil, with tented ceiling and walls draped in chintz and shantung in saffron, periwinkle, emerald, and sapphire. Marissa Geoffroy, Sherle Wagner International creative director and granddaughter of the founders, was in from San Francisco, along with the brand's Melanie Turner.
