By Billy Fong. Photography Tamytha Cameron. PARTY — INDOOR VERSION A s one of my table- mates, Annika Cail, put it succinctly on her Instagram the next day: Party in the Park ... (with a pivot). Yes, the Klyde Warren Park's annual fundraiser was moved indoors to the Meyerson Symphony Center at the last moment — Dallas' petulant weather was just not cooperating. The other guests at my table — Doniphan Moore, Christy Berry, Tanner Moussa, Chase Morton, Christina Jafar, Ashley Tatum, and Zoe Bonnette — all dressed in the designated park chic attire, migrated from the art-filled home of Muffin Lemak, whose new place at Museum Tower proved a perfect spot for pre-party drinks. Greeting all as they arrived at the Meyerson was the ultimate hostess, Klyde Warren Park president Kit S a w e r s a l o n g s i d e h o n o r a r y chairs Kathryn and Craig Hall. Those spotted drying off from the monsoon outside included Shelia and Jody Grant; Kaleta Blaffer Johnson; Klyde Warren Park's President's Circle chair Ann Hobson with her husband, Lee Hobson; Deborah Scott (in one of her signature jumpsuits — this one with floral appliqués) and John Scott; and Ray Washburne. Even indoors, it was a fabulous night and a rare opportunity to go black-tie-free at an event in the Meyerson. The place settings, which were originally meant for a park- like atmosphere, were not at all stuffy. Neither was the family-style menu centered around a bucket of fried chicken accompanied by fried macaroni and cheese. Post dessert, we moved into the performance space for a special show by the Texas Tenors. Like many events, Party in the Park had skipped 2020, but 2021 will certainly be remembered for bringing many long-lost friends together again. And, best of all: They exceeded their fundraising goal, which will ensure that the park remains clean and safe for every community from Dallas to continue to visit.
