D allas can throw a wild party, but few compare to the one chaired by Robyn and Chris Chauvin this fall. On a brisk November Saturday, 450 guests dressed in their safari-chic best were welcomed by penguins, a flock of flamingos, and one especially docile sloth. The scene made for a perfectly Instagrammable moment, but the animal ambassadors also served as a reminder of the importance of Zoo to Do. Presented by The Eugene McDermott Foundation, the annual fundraising event supports the Dallas Zoo's wildlife conservation efforts, as well as its mission to provide high-quality animal care and educational opportunities. This year's 30th anniversary Zoo to Do, dubbed Return To The Wild, raised more than $1 million. After a warm welcome, guests grazed at the Zoo's award-winning Giants of Savanna exhibit. The strolling dinner — masterminded by honorary chef chair Dan Landsberg of Ellie's Restaurant at Hall Arts Hotel, along with chef wrangler Brett Krafft of the Hilton Lincoln Centre — featured chefs from 24 top city restaurants, including Gemma, Tulum, Truluck's, Parigi, and Shinsei. A live auction headlined by exotic travel was held in the Wilds of Africa Plaza, where dancing and live music from Manhattan closed out an unforgettable evening. By Caitlin Clark.
