FIELD OF VISION By Catherine D. Anspon. Photography Chris Pierre Bachman and Anthony Rathbun. W hen one thinks of Round Top, thoughts often turn to the i n c o m p a r a b l e F e s t i v a l H i l l , which recently commemorated its 50th anniversary as a renowned music institute (see page 12). But performance art of another type — by a trio of contemporary talents — sprouted up in the fields this spring, curated by Nancy Littlejohn Fine Art. The bucolic venue, the terrain surrounding eponymous Houston gallerist Nancy Littlejohn's compound, Peace and Plenty Farm, mirrored the landscapes o f Ro u n d To p - b a s e d W i l l i a m Anzalone, a master Texas painter whom NLFA represents and who made a rare cameo. These Texas creatives unveiled their works over three successive evenings: photographer/video/performance artist Sarah Sudhoff, fashion designer Isabel Wilson, and painter/sculptor McKay Otto. The week was billed as an "Ode to the Arts" and lived up to its moniker, presenting Sudhoff's hypnotic Within Reach that metaphorically commented upon our shared human condition as refugees "between the before and after"; Wilson's avant-garde Summer 2022 collection paired with jewelry by Mariquita Masterson; and Otto's otherworldly Tibetan bowl- ringing ritual, Sounds of the Universe. In a charming cottage on the property, guests perused artists in the NLFA 2.0 Gallery pop-up.
