A rt and food came together in a delightful pairing when The Halles hosted a VIP dinner that served up a visual and culinary feast during the Round Top Spring Antiques & Design Show. The first course was staged as an art aperitif as Christopher Martin Gallery hosted an exhibition with photographer Steve Wrubel, whose latest images chronicle rodeo riders and maverick heroes of the American West. For the second act, the Halles VIP Pavilion was the place to be for signature cocktails by Still Austin Whiskey Co. (lavender whiskey lemonade with a local honey stick) and a summer seated supper from A Fare Extraordinaire — an ode to the farm-to-table movement with kale and strawberry salad, boneless beef short rib with jalapeño cheese grits, finished with lavender pound cake. The farmhouse tables were dressed in sweet country flowers by The Twisted Tulip's Jake Davis, in from Austin. Ashley Dalhart of Blue Mule Winery showcased her family's local wine, while Tyler Chase strummed original C&W tunes.
