HATS OFF TO SISSY'S NEW SHOP By Anne Lee Phillips and Candice Cowin. Photography Chris Pierre Bachman. S e a s o n e d Ro u n d To p shoppers know that a good hat is essential gear, and there's no better place to find the perfect one than at Sissy Light's new year-round 1850s log-cabin shop in Henkel Square, which opened just days before the spring shows. For the past five years, shoppers have stumbled across Light's pop-up shop at Bader Ranch and gone home hat-happy; the pop-up at Bader Ranch continues to pop during the Round Top antiques shows. Kristin (Sissy) Light, armed with a degree in fashion design from Los Angeles' FIDM, spent a decade photographing and styling weddings before turning her hand to interior design projects such as The Frenchie Boutique Hotel, which she co-owns with Katy Bader. In her new Henkel Square shop — situated next door to Ellis Motel — you'll find Light's trademark West Texas-meets-Palm Beach vibe, stocked with straw hats, field straps made with French grosgrain ribbon (a must on blustery days), and an expanded array of accessories. On opening day, friends flocked to shop and to sip blueberry lavender spritz cocktails mixed by The Frenchie's private chef, Brenna McBroom. In the crowd: Light's spring-show guests popping up at Sissy Light, including Alissa Noshie- Moyse of Casual Carats Jewelry and sisters Margaret Walker and Sarah Caruth of Fraulein Boot Company, as well as Margaret Ortego, Rob Oriti, Jan-Pieter Zweegers, and Shannon Vance.
