Art: It's time for another trek to Marfa. Cultural entrepreneur and curator Yvonne Force Villareal has launched an innovative arts program at the historic Brite House in Marfa, built by Lucas Charles Brite in 1917. Aptly named Brite Force, it opened with an inaugural exhibition by artist Will Cotton, which features a series of drawings and hyper- realistic paintings of cowboys and unicorns (through September 2022) … Want a shorter drive? Head to Fort Worth for two art excursions. Kinfolk House presents its summer project, "Congregate" (through July 30), with works from artists Skip Hill, Colby Deal, and Angela Faz. The trio contemplate the feelings of isolation brought on by sheltering in place during the pandemic. At the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, explore a century of photographic representations of Black American experiences, the first presentation of its kind at the museum. "Black Every Day: Photographs from the Carter Collection" juxtaposes historic and contemporary photography with vernacular images highlighting more than 100 years of Black American life represented in the Carter's collection. More than 50 artworks are on view by iconic artists including Roy DeCarava, Dorothea Lange, Deana Lawson, Gordon Parks, James Van Der Zee, and Garry Winogrand (through September 11). Restaurants: The Dallas restaurant landscape continues to sprout new destinations. One that's gaining lots of buzz is Clifton Club, with menu devised by Sonia Mancillas, located next to owner Greg Katz's wildly popular dining spot Beverley's on Fitzhugh … In the Knox neighborhood, foodies will have new destinations this fall: Foxtrot opens in the former Yeti space early fall, and Berkley's Market moves next to Taverna, also this fall. Coming 2023 is The Anchor Bar from Vandelay Hospitality Group (Hudson House, Drake's) … For downtown denizens, a new hot spot is La Stella Cucina Verace, where chef BUZZY BEE Luigi Iannuario offers modern fused with Old World dishes. One of our favorites is Agnolotti Pizzicati made with osso bucco-filled agnolotti, butter, and sage sauce, with veal reduction … Vandelay Hospitality Group has opened Hudson House Las Colinas and opens Brentwood in early July in the former Houston's steakhouse location on Belt Line Road — a new concept that offers new American classics.
