The 48th annual Show House has claimed the historic River Mansion at 337 Riverside Drive on the Upper West Side and will be open to the public for one month, beginning Thursday May 11, with the opening preview party slated for Wednesday, May 10, 6 to 9 pm. Since 1973, supporters of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club raise funds for after-school and enrichment programs for NYC children via a magnificent showhouse, wherein renowned interior designers transform a Manhattan townhome. The event has expanded with great success to Palm Beach and Dallas (opening day October 6). Designers go all out and are expected to let their creativity shine, calling in favors with all their talented craftspeople to produce the most unexpected and exquisite interiors. The show house is known for creating new trends in interior design, making it a can't-miss event. This year's beautiful townhouse, The River Mansion, dates to 1902 and sits on a stately corner point beside Riverside Park with dreamy Hudson River views. It's been home to such notable residents as actress Julia Marlowe and the Bronfman family, including Edgar, Sherri, and Hannah. Time to book your next New York trip. Australia-born brothers Nicholas and Harrison Condos expanded upon their master blacksmith father Jim Condos' furniture company, which he founded in 1976, and have since introduced outdoor and indoor furniture collections to Southern California, New York City, and now Houston, with Miami soon to follow. The furniture is built to withstand harsh Australian climates (the name is a nod to the Sydney Harbour Bridge), made with durable materials such as powder- coated aluminum and mildew-resistant upholstery, with an emphasis on beautiful design and top-notch craftsmanship and materials. The design ethos is inspired by Australia's modern beach houses, which blend effortlessly into rugged coastline. Look for cushy teak sofas and chairs with unexpected dimension via geometric curves and right angles and structural dining tables crafted of strong, beautifully crafted aluminum.
