I n May 2022, Dior Maison launched a collection of objects designed by French interior designer and collector Pierre Yovanovitch — a study in the art of subtlety. For 2023, Dior has extended the collection with a new range of soft hues while keeping the integrity of the originals intact. Nice, France-born Yovanovitch's work highlights the beauty of creating timeless objects from simple yet elegant materials. Traditional construction techniques and sustainable materials figure into an assortment of trays, desk pads, bookends, and candle holders that add something that can be so difficult to get just right. The updated collection offers up a small surprise, a box containing two decks of cards designed by Roman artist Pietro Ruffo and a set of dominoes, alongside objects dedicated to the office world and billed by Dior as "essentials." M.Naeve on the Move O ne of Houston's most loved retail design stores, M.Naeve, has moved from its longtime location on Westheimer to the fourth floor of the historic Main & Co building downtown. Proprietor Margaret Naeve Parker opened her store — which focuses on contemporary design and antiques discovered on her travels to Belgium, France, and Sweden — in 2006. "This move is a complete departure from anything I've ever done with my business, but as soon as I stepped off the elevator, I knew this is where I needed to be," she says. The 1800s-era building is a charming and atmospheric backdrop for Parker's shop and interior design studio, with original exposed brick and plaster walls, ceiling beams, restored wood floors, and arched windows. The store carries such artisan lines as Apparatus, Editions Modern, Black Creek Mercantile & Trading Company, Materia, and Egg Collective, and has a new partnership with Brooklyn- based company Workstead. "Their lighting collection emits a core feeling of quality and a level of artisanship we strive to represent in all we do," says Naeve. The store's cache of rare antiques includes Italian and Scandinavian seating from the mid-20th century, including a sofa by Osvaldo Borsani and a set of Tage Poulsen dining chairs.
