JUNK GYPSY X KENDRA SCOTT J unk Gypsy's Amie Sikes and Jolie Sikes partnered with jewelry designer Kendra Scott for the launch of her Texas-inspired collection, Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott. The Boot Scootin' Boogie evening on the lawn of Junk Gypsy Round Top headquarters featured Scott's Tiny Home trailer housing the Yellow Rose collection, along with a custom hat bar, country-western dance lessons, roping demos, barbeque, cocktails, and live music by Bri Bagwell and The Rocky Mountain Bandits. In the crowd: Callie Spears of Food Network's Cake Wars, Kara Hill, Indie Sikes, Melissa Beaumont, Rooster Hodges, and Averi Keen. BLACK COWBOY CULTURE A dding art of importance to this spring's show edition, a private farm in Ledbetter served as the pop-up venue for the exhibition "Hay Day." Co-curator Mathis Walker presented Atlanta- and Houston-based artist/ photographer Gem Hale's multi-year, multi-state project documenting the culture of Black ranchers and cowboys. The property's barn was turned into a white cube where Hale's life-sized portraits conveyed a cast of under-known heroes of American rural life. Remember Hale's name, as this rising photographic talent will be highlighted next in the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston's fall lineup. DESIGNER SPEAKER SERIES AT THE HALLES N ational names in design popped up at The Halles for barn talks and book signings. Alessandra Branca and Veranda editor in chief Steele Marcoux discussed the Branca Bungalow showhouse at Red Antler Bungalows, and Marcoux signed her newest book, At Home in the South. Suzanne Kasler and Bobby McAlpine took to the stage to discuss the role of antiques in their practices and sign their recently released books, Edited Style and Romantic Modernism, respectively. In the crowd: Caitlin Wilson, Cathy Kincaid, Chesie Breen, Susanna Moldawer, Ruth Davis, Craig O'Dell, Greg Fourticq, John Cone, Wayne Smith, Denny Lyons, Hector and Emma Finch, Jimmie Henslee, Katherine Nicholson, Mary Ella Gabler, Veranda's David Hamilton, Flower magazine's Margo and Gates Shaw, Sissy Lappin, Trish Burros, and Cherie Flores. SIP & SHOP AT THE HALLES O n a crisp spring evening, 24 national and Texas-based vendors were the stars of The Halles' Sip & Shop pop-up bazaar, selling everything from caftans to fine jewelry. Greeting guests was the Champagne Problems Mobile Champagne Cart, where shoppers fueled up on All Hands craft cocktails. Libby's Kitchen & Studio offered miniature charcuterie boxes and gluten-free chocolate-chip cookies, while mixmaster DJ Kay Dee created the musical landscape. Returning faves: Leah Malasko's La Lo La; Elizabeth Leaman's antique quilts Lady Lancaster; Laura Elizabeth Stuart jewelry; and Selina Stanford's Frock Shop. Newcomers included Molly X Niko, Cadeux jewelry, Christy Lynn, Freya, Finley Shirts, Hunter Bell, Inclan Studios, Kelly Kathleen Designs, KMC Handbags, Mirth Caftans, Rockabilly Baroness, and Sapana Dreams.
