Special events are scheduled for each weekend in December leading up to Christmas Day and beyond, and the year-round shops, restaurants, and bars are open beginning Wednesday or Thursday through Sunday every weekend … The holiday fun begins Saturday, December 2, 8 am, with Breakfast with Santa at Royers Café. Santa will pose for photos following a country breakfast of waffles, bacon, sausage, and eggs with hot chocolate and coffee. A pair of grand openings took place just before the 2023 Fall Round Top Antiques & Design Show. Market Hill 2 owner Paul Michael flung open the antique doors to the newly constructed building with a late-night sip- and-shop event. Wine, cocktails, and charcuterie toasted the launch of the 125,000-square-foot venue space, which includes a centrally located full bar. A dozen dealers have taken up residence, each with its own climate-controlled space: Susan Horne Antiques, Paul Michael Company, Architectural Artifacts (including pieces from Amighini Architectural), M. Naeve, Tiffany Farha Design, Urban Vintage, Shabby Slips, Atlanta Fine Rugs, Architect's Daughter, Moxie Interiors, Provence Antiques, and Garcia Couture. Just down the road, Kemo Sabe celebrated its opening day at Henkel Square, just before the fall show. The western fashion retailer welcomed shoppers into its newly built two-story retail space stocked with the beloved Grit line of hats, boots and buckles (worn by Jeff Bezos, Beyoncé, Orlando Bloom), all handmade in Texas. Grit hats are made at the company's Hat Ranch in Gainesville; boots are constructed at the company's new El Paso boot factory. Kemo Sabe also stocks custom boots, knives, vintage jewelry, and Western wear and showcases local Round Top artisans. Hat customization is available in the second-floor hat bar. Geography has played a central role in the artist's life, nurturing his interest in plein-air painting. Raised outside of Dallas as a boy, he moved to small-town Bowie, Texas, at the edge of the plains (formerly Comanche territory) at age 11. As an adult, Henry relocated to live amidst the majestic terrain of Northern Utah before returning to Texas. The son of a rodeo cowboy turned Western painter, Henry brings his take on the modern West and the contemporary cowboy's place within it to his solo exhibition, "Journeys," at Red & White.
