HALLES ROUND TOP SPONSORED PARTNER WHAT'S ON TAP CATHERINE D. ANSPON REPORTS FROM THE FIELD. THE T he Spring 2024 Round Top Antiques & Design Show — March 16 through 30 at The Halles — sees the seventh iteration of the PaperCity and Round Top Publishers event space and design, art, fashion, and foodie Mecca take off, with its nine Halles, hospitality pavilion, and tented spaces filled with unique purveyors and exciting happenings. Kudos to returning underwriting sponsor JennAir — The Halles Food Lab by JennAir. New this season: Round Top Coffee Shop sets up shop, offering breakfast, bites, and a kick of java to jumpstart your day. Country Sunshine continues its down-home fare throughout the entire show and a full array of drinks from the bar. Just in: Owners Danny and Cullen Holle's famous Neapolitan-style pizza crafted in a wood-fired Forno Bravo pizza oven permanently takes up residence at The Halles. The Halles honors its international dealers with foodie nights — for limited evenings, Country Sunshine will be preparing cuisine from Turkey, Morocco, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Belgium, and Latin America. (See thehalles.com for updated menu.) No guilt about that: The Halles is the only venue in town with its own fitness guru/personal trainer — work out, take a yoga class, or book a session in The Halles Gym with founder/ director Zuzana Kastleman. Now, here's our guide to the season's must-shop Halles stops. Designer Destination Round Top regular Verona Disdier's permanent shop at The Halles — a dramatic year-round showroom for her signature Pierre Verona — features Mother Nature's art. Stunning vessels, furniture, accessories, and original lapidary art are honed from minerals and gems retrieved from her personal quarries in Mexico; these finds become statement pieces around which entire rooms can be imagined. Designers also flock to Crystal Nichols as a go-to source for alluring antique and mid-century modern furniture and lighting. One of The Halles' most unique creatives is Around the Bend, presenting artisan Rick Pratt's American-made willow furniture. Then there's retro-cool Found Images imprinted on all manner of home goods. New Halles home-design destinations: The Caravan for Moroccan textiles, rugs, and souk-worthy shopping; North Carolina- crafted Threads For The Bed; and Maaribu home decor, Marfa meets Malibu. Bask in Sabine Maes Art's sublime canvases, textiles, and sheepskins. The Belgian-based painter is the ideal creative for Round Top, with her reverence for Mother Earth, respect for the countryside, and use of raw ingredients from nature in her weaving and art making. Speaking of textile art, Turkish Rug Co., led by rug expert Mark Odom, specializes in Tulus, Kilims, and masterpiece bespoke Turkish Oushaks hand-woven from reclaimed 100-year-old wool. Then visit Starred Sky Development for architecturally informed homes for those who want to move beyond a big-box city house or acquire a second home that manifests outstanding design and a carefully considered footprint. For sustainable building, check in or check out Hive3D Casitas — the future is now for one of the most exciting innovations in home-construction technology in our time.
