T he heart of Round Top e n c o m p a s s i n g b o t h Henkel Square and the historic Town Square is forever evolving. This fall, central shopping and entertainment hub Henkel Square welcomes photographer Landon Wright's LA Wright Gallery. Meanwhile, luxury Western wear purveyor Kemo Sabe celebrates its first anniversary as a year-round store at Henkel. The Round Top Antiques & Design Center, also in Henkel Square, debuts two new vendors this fall: Timur and Lineke Williford of Rengi Living (Rengi is also set up at ExCess II) and Marburger Farm Antique Show dealer Scott Wilson of Sodium Bulb Antiques. Across from Henkel Square, the Town Square of Round Top unveils newly constructed public restrooms that honor the town's history via historic photos of Round Top that have been superimposed on wall tiles. More renovations to the Town Square and Round Top Courthouse are still to come as the Courthouse nears its 100th birthday celebration next May. Ticketholders can access early shopping at The Compound and The White Barn, with music, light bites, and open bar amid the tabletop creations of notable designers Renea Abbott of Shabby Slips, Petra McKenzie and Jonah Kilday of MK Workshop, Alexandra Killion, Suzanne Duin of Maison Maison Design, Mary Patton, Sara Malek Barney of Bandd/Design, Julie Dodson of Dodson Interiors, Sandy Lucas and Sarah Eilers of Lucas/Eilers Design Associates, Melanie Tipton of Last Petal, and Michael Harold and Quinn Peeper, authors of Classical Shindig (Octavia Books). The Compound opens to the public for the fall show October 10 through 26 with new dealers: rare books vendor A Fox's Tale from South Carolina; European architectural salvage and garden antiques dealer Uniquities Architectural Antiques, Calgary; mid-century and antique furniture and lighting seller Kemp Hickey Designs, Atlanta; fine art painter and illustrator Peter Horjus Art, Santa Barbara, California; fine artist and Schumacher wallpaper designer Colette Cosentino Atelier + Gallery, also Santa Barbara; and antique, vintage and modern French furniture purveyor Deconuts from Perpignan, France. The fun at The Compound continues long after the close of the antiques show. The Round Top Art Festival runs Friday through Sunday, November 15 through 17, while the Christkindl Market brings twinkling lights, holiday decor, artisan vendors, food, music, and fireworks to The Compound Friday through Sunday, December 6 through 8. The Compound Neighborhood continues to expand following the completion of Compound Lane, a road leading to a collection of exciting new venues behind The Compound. Shane Brown of Big Daddy's Antiques plans to open a year- round store on Compound Lane alongside existing shop owners Gloria and Patrice Watine of Jardin de France. The Watines are wrapping construction on a second showroom at Compound Lane and will unveil Rive Gauche, a new French wine bar built in the style of La Terrasse de Madame in Paris' Jardin du Luxembourg. The bar serves French wine, cheese, and charcuterie — the perfect stop after shopping for Louis XV at Jardin de France showroom next door. Blue Hills dealers Annika and Henri Delclaux of Antiquaire de France will also set up shop on Compound Lane following the completion of their retail building. Textile importers and pillow makers Tamara and JP Cajuste of Indian Pink round out the current Compound Lane vendor list. Meanwhile, Austin-based designer Emily Seiders, who has purchased a 21-acre plot adjacent to The Compound, has plans to build a large climate-controlled barn and Hideaway — a relaxing escape with a farmhouse, casitas, and event barn with pool and firepits (@hideawayroundtop).
