N i g e r i a n - A m e r i c a n artist Dozie Kanu, whose debut furniture collection for Knoll launched at Salone del Mobile 2026, was born and raised in Houston, and was inspired by Texas car culture — tricked-out, customized slab wheels. A silverplated coffee pot, deconstructed then stitched back together with delicate chainmail-like metalsmithing, caught our eye at a recent MFAH Glassell Studio School exhibition. Its creator is Houston's Edward Lane McCartney, who is celebrated this fall in Houston Center for Contemporary Craft's silver-anniversary show, "A Material Inheritance," opening September 5. $3,500, through Hooks-Epstein Galleries. A dmirers of the avant-garde and punk- rock aesthetic of Swiss artist Bernhard Schobinger will flock to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, this month for his first exhibition stateside — necklaces formed from nature (including a meteorite) paired with precious materials and salvaged finds (fishing lures and wedding rings pulled out of Lake Zürich over decades of the artist's dives).
