and eat copious amounts of TexMex). This Brit turned Texan is thrilled to join PaperCity magazine! December will be my first issue, and we are already planning a sparkling Holiday Gift Guide, but for November, peruse the fine nest of artist Jay Shinn and our veritable feast of fall fashion. As one chapter ends, invariably another chapter begins as I begin my next chapter in life and my first month at PaperCity. And, in turn, the lovely Amy Adams enters a new chapter in her life as she moves to Austin to attend grad school, studying integrative medicine. We wish Amy the very best and hope she knows that Dallas will miss her dearly. Max Trowbridge Dallas editor in chief max@papercitymag.com in 8, POP. CULTURE. Jim Kastleman Publisher jim@papercitymag.com It's Hopper TIME We're still obsessed with American master Edward Hopper (1882–1967). His work makes three important marks upon the canvas this season, beginning with the extraordinary drawing show "A Painter's Process," organized by the Whitney Edward Hopper's East Wind Over Weehawken, Museum of American Art at the Dallas Museum 1934, at Christie's of Art (November 17 – February 16). Highlights include the sketch for the seminal 1942 work Nighthawks — one of the paintings in the canon of American and 20th-century art. Pay attention to a rare Hopper painting offered in Christie's American Art sale Thursday, December 5, in New York, where East Wind Over Weehawken, 1934, carries an estimate between $22 and 28 million (info christies.com). Then in February, the mythic Nighthawks itself arrives at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in "Art and Appetite," traveling from hometown museum the Art Institute of Chicago (cartermuseum.org). You may know me as the founder of my online magazine pinkmemo.com, which I sadly closed back in August; you may know me as the Dallas editor for national magazine Du Jour, or for my work with Ocean Drive magazine in Miami. Or, you may not know me at all. And that's fine, because we are going to get to know each other, and that's the fun part. To wit, I'm British, yet a naturalized citizen, and when I moved to Dallas 10 years ago from South Florida with my husband, I set forth on a new adventure — one where I would get to know this chic, sophisticated city inside and out (and, of course, learn to say "y'all" Thom Browne quilted jacket $3,270, and quilted trousers $3,870, both at the Thom Browne boutique, NY, 212.633.1197 Virgins, Saints and Angels Resurrection Cross pendant $294, at Swag, Ylang 23 Marni collar $400, at modaoperandi.com NOVEMBER | PAGE 4 | 2013 Valentino gown with embroidered collar and cuffs $6,980, at the Valentino boutique, Neiman Marcus Downtown, Stanley Korshak Céline coat, top, skirt and belt, price upon request, collection at Forty Five Ten
