Suki Cheema Something's AFO O T Suki Cheema may not be a household name, but his former employers are: Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Diane von Furstenberg. The Central Saint Martin grad's relative anonymity may be short-lived, as he's currently short-listed for the Elle Decoration British Design Awards in the Best British Designer category. And, now that we've seen his boldly printed pillows, he certainly has our vote. "I can totally picture these in someone's Aspen house. It's such a cool, updated take on Southwestern," says Amber Frazee, who snatched up the local exclusive for her Stella Dallas shop. From $150, at Stella Dallas, 1812 Market Center Blvd., 214.691.000; shopstelladallas.com. Amy Adams O utdoor rugs generally come in one of two categories: beautiful but with the shelf life of organic watercress, or long-lasting with all the sex appeal of American Gothic. Perennials, however, plays against type with its new Out & About collection of high-performance rugs. Gorgeous enough for indoor use, each handwoven design can withstand everything Texas weather can bring … heck, these "Diamond in the Rough" from Perennials stain-resistant babies could even best a plague of locusts bearing goblets brimming with pinot noir. Deliberate between six different solids, stripes and patterns (all available in 12 natureinspired color ways) in sizes up to 10' by 14'. To the trade at David Sutherland; davidsutherlandshowroom.com. Amy Adams PLEASINGLY Plump Lauded Hide & Chic Aerin Lauder I LAUDERS f challenged, we'd be hard-pressed to suggest how Kyle Bunting might up his game. He's long been the undisputed master of decorative hide, partly because of his "any size, any shape, any color" mantra and his willingness to explore the materials' potential for rugs, walls, objects and upholstery. So, how does he raise the bar? By inviting decorating doyenne Jan Showers to put her own sophisticated stamp on the genre. The result is a capsule collection that bears the interior designer's unmistakable color savvy and pattern play. Six pillow styles include tonal stripes in mouthwatering shades of pink, split circles in watery turquoise or mocha medleys and nesting squares that gradate from charcoal to butter yellow. The three rug designs are knockouts, but it's the latticed framework in ivory that has us truly floored. To the trade at David Sutherland, Jan Showers & Associates. Amy Adams Aerin Lauder, celebrated granddaughter of Estée Lauder and, today, a senior VP and creative director at Estée Lauder, shows her newest collection of fabrics for Lee Jofa and signs her book Beauty at Home ($60) Wednesday, November 13, 1 pm, at the Lee Jofa showroom, Dallas Design Center (1025 N. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 735). In the book, she shares memories of the family celebrations and world travel that formed her sense of style; she opens the doors to her New York apartment, as well as to Estée's Hamptons home, which Aerin has preserved and updated. The book signing is gratis, but reservations are required through dallas.showroom@ leejofa.com, or 214.741.2755. A compassionate crowd of Dallas folk flew and road-tripped to Austin's Moody Theater, home to Austin City Limits, in honor of Darrell K. Royal and the eponymous Alzheimer's research fund. A sold-out ensemble of 1,800 gathered for the 4th & Goal Gala chaired by Austin's Ava Late and Dallas' Rita Hortenstine, which honored the late University of Texas football coach who lost his battle with Alzheimer's last year. Seventy-five of his former players from National Championship teams honored him, as did longtime friends Willie Nelson, Larry Gatlin and Ray Benson, who performed a set of Royal's favorite songs.
