ADILOVA LOVES A FINE LINE Der Your Spring/Summer 2015 collection … Is seen and told through the eyes of the young. My muse goes where the music takes her — she's elevated and effortless in her sense of style. By dressing up, she reinvents herself a star. Your go-to fall outfit. From my AW14 collection, the F trouser suit — both the cream and the black version. What does it mean to you that Kate Middleton wears your designs? It's an honor — she epitomizes "dressing up" for Great Britain. Coffee, tea or juice. Freshly squeezed pineapple juice. Favorite travel destination. Going home to New Zealand — time on the beach there is impressive. Dream dinner companion. Delphine Krakoff — I am a huge fan of her interior work. And din- ner with Diana Vreeland, of course, to take in her each and every word! Personal success. I have three: starting and building my own label; marrying my hus- band and business partner, Daniel; and giving birth to my daughter, Mercedes Amalia. Kelly Wearstler Sonara earrings Ebbtide ring Carmel ring Ayliss necklace Your Spring/Summer 2015 collection … Was inspired predominantly by Nepal. This collection draws specifically on the peaks, undulating lines and bursts of colors from the Himalayas. I looked back to school excursions we would take to Mount Everest as a child. All in all, it was a personal and poignant collection for me. Your new footwear collection. Launching footwear for Spring 2015 is a huge step for us as a brand. I've always imagined what our expansion into other categories would look like, and to have made a start is incredibly exciting. We named the shoes after favorite female artists of mine: Cecily Brown, Tracey Emin, Zaha Hadid, Cindy Sherman and Frida Kahlo. The vision behind your new cosmetics line, Prabal Gurung x MAC. Our capsule collection for MAC was inspired by the work of artists Sylvie Fleury and Damien Hirst — essentially, their subversive views on beauty and luxury. I wanted to emulate the woman I design the collection for, who is simultaneously beautiful and intelligent, with an undercurrent of deviance and educated wit. As a luxury womenswear brand, I want our beauty collection to reflect the ideals of Prabal Gurung and was very keen to produce a luxurious and collectible product. Personal style. Clean, modern, practical. I like to be comfortable when designing. How do you start your day? With a coffee from La Colombe on Lafayette Street. They make the best coffee in New York. Entertained by … I'm obsessed with House of Cards. I recently saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway, which was excellent. Always inspired by … Interesting and beautiful women of substance. I have a series on our blog, The Journal, called Monday Muse, which recently featured women like my close friend, jewelry designer Monique Pean, Bethann Hardison, Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett. All these women — with their integrity, talent and confidence — inspire me from season to season. PRABALGURUNG EMILIAWICKSTEAD DEREK LAM Your Spring/Summer 2015 collection … Can be described using three words: simplicity, fictional and elegant. Preferred fall ensemble. A coat by Dries Van Noten, a sweater by Smedley and Levi's. How you start your day. Coffee with a lot of milk. I need the jolt. Personal triumph. I quit smoking! Reading list. Dying Every Day: Seneca in the Court of Nero, by James Romm. Whom do you admire? Obama is inspiring. Entertained by ... Veep — I can watch the same episodes 10 to 20 times! Fall has arrived, but spring and summer are on the creative minds of fashion designers across the globe. This month, I caught up with a few of my favorites to chat Spring/Summer 2015, what they're up to now and who they admire. Her myriad projects range from interior design (including the Viceroy and Avalon hotels, Tides South Beach) to fashion, accessories, fine china, wall- coverings and rugs — and now she's conquering fine jewelry as well. Inspired by the raw and refined elegance of California and her affinity for gorgeous stones, mixed metals and texture, Wearstler has designed a collection of 60 pieces incor- porating pink druzy, sapphires, topaz and moonstones encased in 18K gold and blackened sterling silver. She chatted with PaperCity about her new collection, available exclusively in Dallas at Forty Five Ten, her love for this city and her penchant for staying busy. Linden Wilson Favorite piece from your new jewelry collection. I absolutely love every piece I design. Each is one-of-a-kind and handmade with precision and love in Los Angeles, with hand-selected stones from rare African zebra sapphires to rough-cut champagne diamonds. I love to seek out and find these beautiful gems all over the world when I travel. Whether it's an oversized pendant necklace or a cocktail ring, each comes in a handmade leather and fur bag. You can dress them up or down and layer with other pieces. It's like designing a room — each piece tells a story. The Forty Five Ten connection. It's an incredible boutique. Forty Five Ten carries my home collection and has the most discerning merchandising, but the sales staff still has that characteristic warmth that Dallas is known for. I always stop at the T Room — it's the chicest lunch spot in town. What will you conquer next? I always have multiple projects going on at once. I'm a great multi- tasker, probably from all of my years waiting tables! I'm launching a lighting collection and a bedding line in Spring 2015 and working on a new hotel brand. The first hotel is set to open in San Francisco in 2015, then another in downtown Los Angeles. I'm also designing new furniture, home decor, tabletop and jewelry collections. How does developing hotel design concepts differ from the process of designing clothing, jewelry and decor? I can't say much about the hotel design just yet, but I approach each project like a blank canvas. My clients are the inspiration and the information I pass through my filter. I look at the project in a true lifestyle fashion: how guests will live in the space, things they interact with, how they use the space. All of our projects are totally turnkey; the bedding, flatware and glassware are all considered. I love collaborating with other consultants — for example, a land- scape designer, an architect and a lighting designer — because you learn so much from them and continue to hone your craft. Being a great listener is first and foremost. Kelly Wearstler fine jewelry, priced $1,500 to $5,000, can be found at Forty Five Ten.
