JULY | PAGE 38 | 2015 A TRIO OF EVENTS SUPPORT THE STORIED SCHOOL. KICKING IT UP A NOTCH FOR KINKAID ANNE LEE PHILLIPS TAKES NOTES. PHOTOGRAPHY DAVID SHUTTS. SPORTING CLAYS The Kinkaid School's 13th Annual Sporting Clays Benefit was a great day for the ladies: For the first time there were two all-female teams — one sponsored by Lindsey and Steven Looke, the other by Caroline and Will Brown. Female shooter Desirae Edmunds took first place overall, beating 279 competitors. Held at the Greater Houston Gun Club, the competition followed a leisurely lunch from Pappas Bar-B-Q. Underwritten by honorary chair Corby Robertson Jr. and wife Barbara, Meadowlake Pet Resort and Walter Oil & Gas Corporation, the event raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars, benefitting the Barbara Cooney Teaching Internship Endowment. Good sports: committee chair Lex Hochner and co-chair Jeb Bowden; Bob Collie with son Ted; George Ball; James Pappas; Greg Highberger; Will Hixon; Matthew Phillips; and Charlie Meyer. COCKTAILS WITH LAUREN BUSH LAUREN On the night before the inaugural Kinkaid Alumnae & Friends Luncheon, co-chairs Mary Smith and Clare McLeroy treated the major underwriters to an intime evening at Mary Eliza Shaper's beautiful abode. A Fare Extraordinaire catered and decorated the dining room in FEED for West Elm products. Lauren Bush Lauren, a Kinkaid alum, caught up with former classmates and family friends, such as Dabney Pierce, Carolyn Dodson, Lindsey Looke, Betty Hrncir, Martha Adger, Monica Bailey Bickers, and Betty Hrncir, and Martha Adger. KINKAID ALUMNAE & FRIENDS LUNCHEON The following day, Lauren Bush Lauren received the first Margaret Kinkaid Alumna Award at the luncheon at the Royal Sonesta. She coolly addressed 650 guests, including her grandparents, President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush; mother Sharon Bush; father Neil Bush with wife Maria; and brother Pierce Bush. LBL fondly recalled her 11 years at The Kincaid School. Ten percent of the luncheon proceeds benefitted her FEED projects (which will serve more than 100,000 meals to children), while 90 percent benefitted the school's new dining center. Fostering the Falcons: co-chairs Liz Anders, Adrian Ross and Nicole Zarr; Carole Looke; Suzette Caldwell; and Mary Louise Kinder. PHOTOGRAPHY MIRO DVORSCAK. I nterior designers, architects and the clients who love them turned out for the opening of the stunning new 3,500-square-foot Holly Hunt showroom. Native daughter Holly Hunt (who grew up in Lubbock) touched down from Chicago to toast with Texans in Atrium 1 at Decorative Center Houston. DJ FXBox provided beats while lovers of Hunt's sophisticated tailored style enjoyed bites from Americana Café, and servers passed braided leather bracelets (from Holly Hunt Leather) on silver trays as party favors, as well as branded tote bags for carting samples around town. The team at Holly Hunt has much to celebrate: The brand was recently acquired by modern furniture powerhouse Knoll for a cool $95 million, enabling it to expand the empire domestically and internationally. The Houston showroom is the second in Texas, hot off the opening of the 15,000-square-foot Dallas space. The Smilebooth photo booth with backdrop from Trove Wallcoverings was a well-designed hit. Sleek and stylish: Holly Hunt's David Schutte, Curt Kendall, Dan Campbell, Nancy Winston, and Sheila Cloudt, as well as Ms. Hunt herself; Found's Ruth Davis and Isabel Greiner; designers Janus Lazaris, Meg Lonergan, Jennifer Barron, Amy Munger, Elizabeth Stiver, Sandy Lucas, Nicole Zarr, and Letecia Ellis-Haywood; and artist Libbie Masterson.
