THE FIRST PANAMERA BROKE WITH CONVENTION. IT DID A LOT OF THINGS DIFFERENTLY, BUT IT WAS UNMISTAKABLY A GENUINE PORSCHE. — Patrick Huston By Christina Geyer. Photography David Alvey, Mark Nelson. P ark Place Dealerships has a special way of inducing chills. This particular oh-wow moment came by way of Park Place Porsche, when it teamed with the luxury German automaker and PaperCity to reveal the 2017 Porsche Panamera. More than 350 auto-philes packed eM The Venue in the Dallas Design District to see the redesigned car. But before the big reveal, guests test-drove cocktails with Hendrick's Gin or Monkey Shoulder Whiskey, and had photos snapped in the SharingBox as models swirled through in fl oor-sweeping gowns by Roberto Cavalli. It was a perfect storm of turbo-charged design. A hush fell when Patrick Huston, GM of Park Place Porsche, and Steve Krysil, regional manager of Porsche Cars North America, took to the stage. They announced that Park Place had signed on as presenting sponsor for Community Partners of Dallas' Change is Good campaign, then followed with the presentation of the new Porsche Panamera. The room went dark, and a fi lm began on the big screen. In pure Porsche fashion, the production had drama in spades, and DJ Steffi Burns cued her tunes as clouds of smoke swirled around the Panamera, and models in their Cavalli best pulled the curtain open. The crowd pushed forward, eager to take a fi rst look and sit inside the new sedan. As the night ended and guests made their way to the Briggs Freeman Sotheby's valet to retrieve their vehicles, there were certainly dozens of Porsches cued up in the valet line — and we're sure we'll see many a new 2017 Porsche Panamera in future valet lines.
