28 HIGH SPIRITS SHELBY HODGE LIFTS HER GLASS. PHOTOGRAPHY MICHELLE WATSON. W hen Hurricane Harvey wiped out Legacy Community Health's annual luncheon last year, necessity bred an even better idea: Scratch the midday fund-raiser for a cocktail party in a swank home. So it was that Sheridan and John Eddie Williams welcomed a merry throng to their River Oaks home on an evening that honored their BFF Richard Flowers. The Events Company honcho — best friend of gala chairs, über party designer, and all-around good guy — found himself uncharacteristically in the spotlight. From Legacy's beginnings through its many incarnations, Flowers has been an ardent supporter. Presiding over the lively milieu that spilled onto the broad terrace was a fabulous team of chairmen for the night: Sheridan Williams, Elizabeth Petersen, Melissa Mithoff, Katherine Murphy, Shannon Hall, and Marcus Sloan. Barbara McKnight and her Catering by Culinaire crew prepared a surprise feast of the honoree's favorite foods —fried chicken, deviled eggs, gourmet mac and cheese, crab cakes, and more.
