Blazing Glory for The Family Place JEREMY BROWN, SUNNY LONDEN Honorary chairs Diane & Daryl Johnston P hilanthropists, activists and professionals gathered at the Omni Hotel for the Texas Trailblazer Awards Luncheon benefitting The Family Place. Co-chairs Anh and Dr. Loc Trieu and Amanda and Lloyd Ward, along with honorary chairs Diane and Daryl Johnston, made sure certain good deeds did not go unnoticed. Following an address by guest speaker and former pro footballer Don McPherson, several local heroes were recognized for their above-and-beyond efforts: Dr. Kenneth Cooper received the Man of Influence Award; Lynn Goldstein, the RealLife Hero Award; and Verizon, the Advocacy Award for its family-violence programs and outreach. The presentation of the Texas Trailblazer Award showcased the talents and achievements of Kathryn Hall and Liz Minyard, two women who have helped pave a path of opportunity for others.
