letter publisher 22 JONATHAN ZIZZO W ith summer hot on our tails, we are already fantasizing about poolside afternoons and chilled glasses of rosé. We've had an incredible lineup of events this season and look forward to rounding out May with help from several worthy nonprofits. This month kicks off with Flyinghorse on Friday, May 3. PaperCity has long sponsored the annual fundraiser for the esteemed arts magnet Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. This year's event marks the beginning of PaperCity's larger annual partnership with the school that has a rather golden list of alumni, from Norah Jones to Erykah Badu. The action continues on Saturday, May 4, with American Heart Association's Côtes du Coeur, which has bragging rights as being one of the largest fine-wine auctions in the Southwest, with more than 30 of the most impressive wineries in the country. The celebrity chef dinner features 16 of our city's most highly acclaimed toques. Most impressively, this is American Heart Association's largest fundraising event in the country, having pulled in more than $38 million in its 27-year history. Come Tuesday, May 7, we look forward to lunching with The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary during its annual fashion show, luncheon, and shopping event at the Winspear Opera House. This is one event we wouldn't dare attend without our credit cards in tow, as the Chic Boutique (a massive shop of new and gently used designer duds) is one of the best places to score designer labels to add to our wardrobes. May is one of our most prominent issues dedicated to home design and art, so we kick off the month on Wednesday, May 1, with George Cameron Nash, hosting designer Kerry Joyce, who will sign his latest tome, The Intangible.
