ART + DECORATION M ecox has left its l o n g t i m e K n o x - Henderson location and opened a four- month pop-up in the Dallas Design District that may eventually turn permanent, says Mecox owner Mac Hoak. The new store is a former studio occupied by the artist team Luna Smith, whose artworks and bespoke furniture are carried in Mecox stores. Hoak fell in love with the studio's copious natural light and its proximity to downtown, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, Trinity River trails, and Trinity Groves. The new space is filled with the vintage and new furnishings, art, and decoratives that Mecox is known for. "You'll also find the new Mecox Collection recently introduced at High Point, which references French design of the '50s and '60s in teak, raffia, rope, and rattan," says POP GOES MECOX manager Jason Snider. Local artisans include ceramics and lamps by Paul Schneider, one-of-a-kind African imports by Kanju Interiors, and Lucite objects by Sawyer Collection. Mecox, 801 Core St., mecox.com.
