50 10 YEARS HADLEIGH BLUE BY CHRISTINA GEYER. PHOTOGRAPHY JOEY ARMIN. W hen Gable and Ed Shaikh launched Hadleigh's 10 years ago, things were a bit male-centric: The city's sophisticated gents flocked to the duo's upstairs showroom in Highland Park Village in search of gorgeously tailored custom suits, loafers, shirts, and more — all handcrafted in Italy. It wasn't long before the best-heeled ladies in our city began asking the Shaikhs for their own line of beautifully made clothing and accessories. And so a collection of Hadleigh's womenswear was born, with custom monogrammed slippers to preppy-chic dresses and ruffled blouses, Italian cashmere sweaters, and wraps. Ten years later, there was plenty to celebrate, from the 10th anniversary to its recent move into sleek new digs in Highland Park Village. (The downstairs boutique now connects to the upstairs salon via a spiral staircase.) To mark the occasion, Gable gathered an intimate group of women devotees of Hadleigh's signature style for lunch at Le Bilboquet. The group of H-girls took over the entire Travis Street restaurant for the afternoon, and you can bet there was no shortage of champagne — or Hadleigh's signature blue, which was worn by many and appeared on covetable gift bags for each to take home.
