Cocktails + Canines + Cutting-Edge Architecture Enlightened developer Carol Isaak Barden unveiled the latest addition in her stunning collection of domestic architectural gems, The Suyama House (named after the award-winning Seattle firm Suyama Peterson Deguchi, which designed its light-washed interiors). To celebrate, a proper cocktail fête ensued, which also served as a pooch party: Realtor Kathy Wetmore brought a crowd of canines from the Houston Shaggy Dog Rescue in hopes of finding them new homes. While the pets abstained from alcohol, the two-legged set went for 'ritas, bites from Armandos Taco Truck and petite sweets from Frosted Betty. True to form, they've located new lodgings on West Alabama, between Past Era and Antiques of River Oaks, which feels tailormade for their relaxed, unstudied approach to style. Customers and friends gathered to celebrate the grand opening and peruse new offerings, such as glossy Spitzmiller lamps and John Derian bibelots. In the crowd: Kay O'Toole, David Lackey, Carol Piper, and Aaron Laine, as well as Davis' husband, Neill, who beamed until night's end.
