B e D e s i g n i s breaking ground on a dramatic expansion on West Alabama — one that doubles its existing footprint, after the purchase of an adjoining lot. The dramatic addition will amp up green space via vertical gardens and a verdant 3,000-square- foot rooftop terrace. Watch for eye-catching exterior ar chitectural fl ourishes, such as hexagonal fl oating planters resembling a giant honeycomb. All the above promises to bring a serene contemporary swagger to the store's West Alabama streetscape once the addition unveils later this year. BeDesign remains open during expansion (by appointment until all is back to normal) and is always 24/7 online. Nina Magon of Contour Interior Design has been tapped to devise the new interiors, while BeDesign's architect/designer/co-owner Marcelo Saenz weighs in on the aesthetics of the expanded store. And with its expansive 15,000 square feet of new showroom space, expect exciting international developments. Via email, co-owner Adrián Dueñas told PaperCity of plans for a B&B Italia monobrand store-within-store (including Maxalto and B&B Italia Outdoor). The biggest announcement, however, is that BeDesign will be representing Molteni&C | Dada and Armani Dada, the ultimate in understated, exquisitely designed Italian kitchen concepts. "This will be a game-changer for families who love to entertain in a high-end, fl awless way," says Dueñas. Stay tuned. be-design. us. Catherine D. "The furniture is sitting patiently, unlike us, in our local warehouse waiting for placement," O'Donnell tells PaperCity. As this issue goes to press, construction is nearing completion on the second outpost of Meredith O'Donnell Fine Furniture, a freestanding building located in a new design corridor, Houston Design District. The new location totals 17,000 square feet, 6,000 of which serves as the dedicated Hickory Chair Houston showroom, with an eye to enlarge down the road. This second iteration of Meredith O'Donnell Fine Furniture will carry all the lines currently represented in her Post Oak showroom — including Baker, Maitland-Smith, and Century — with additional display space. The collaboration was such a success that a new capsule collection debuts this month. "Everybody has their favorite Sister Parish fabric, either from their room growing up or from their favorite house from a designer." The new collection features pillows, cocktail napkins, and towels, all stitched by hand in Houston by Goodall and her small team of artisans. Some of last year's favorite colorways make a comeback, including cornflowers, pinks, and greens.
