20 T o ensure that guests embraced the move of Memorial Park Conservancy's Picnic for the Park fundraiser from the grounds of The Forest Club to the Omni Houston Hotel, the ballroom was dressed with potted palms, ferns, and other greenery while vast video images of the breathtaking new Memorial Park provided a verdant tableau. There was happy news all around with advancement of the park's monumental master plan designed by Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects. Conservancy president and CEO Shellye Arnold announced that a generous gift from Wendy and Jeff Hines had earned the couple naming rights to the new five-acre lake to be known as Hines Lake. The lake is integral to the park's Eastern Glades development, which opens this summer. Arnold added that the much anticipated Land Bridge & Prairie project was on track to break ground later this year and open in 2022. A lavish buffet picnic dinner and dancing rounded out the evening.
