If you haven't paid a visit to the W Dallas in a few years, things look different at the Victory Park hotel. Long gone are the days of the Vegas-style Ghost Bar. Mini golf is having something of an adult renaissance in Dallas. Long considered mostly a kids' diversion, it's now becoming the center of sophisticated bars and lounges. Downtown Dallas' first-ever food hall, The Exchange, has added even more new spots. Zalat Slices and Saturday Morning Ice Cream now call the AT&T Discovery District home. They peer into the large windows of The Victor high-rise's lobby and wonder what these abstract figures — there are nine in all, ranging from nine to 12 feet tall — mean. Which is the point. "The way we design the space is to make it more akin to an art gallery," says Kelie Mayfield of MaRS. Yes, this newly opened 39-story high-rise in Victory Park is a different type of tower. From the glass box that almost seems to float above the podium level (a Munoz + Albin twist) to the 38th-floor Vic's Lounge with sweeping views that can be reserved by any resident free of charge.
