GUEST LIST Y ou might have seen in our March 2020 issue that Cornelia Guest has moved to Dallas — yes, the '80s It-girl and deb of the decade, Andy Warhol acolyte, actress, author, designer, animal activist, and social force. She didn't fall far from the social branch of her parents, C.Z. and Winston Frederick Churchill Guest. At that time, during COVID lockdown, she was in search of a ranch for weekend escapes and as a home for her extended family, which includes dogs, lambs, donkeys, horses, birds (including a duck that follows her around), and pretty much every other creature that might have needed rescuing. We're happy to report that she's bought that retreat, and it's just a short drive from her home in Highland Park. Now that she's been a full-fledged Dallasite for almost two years, we asked what she's discovered in our city — along with tips for the flock of Californians who are migrating in droves, securing manses on Armstrong Avenue and Beverly Drive. McWhorter Veterinary Acupuncture: Dr. Chaplin McWhorter comes to the house and is an acupuncturist extraordinaire. My four-legged family members are always thrilled to see her. Shooting range. Texas Gun Ranch in Rockwall: It's a great place to shoot. They have a five stand, numerous sporting clays courses, and are constantly changing the targets. Garden nursery. Nicholson-Hardie Nursery & Garden Center: Talk about an enchanted garden. I love it there. Cultural destination: The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame: It memorializes many of the women that have inspired me my entire life. I always wanted to be a cowgirl. Now that Texas is my home, hopefully that dream will come true.
