Jim Kastleman JACK THOMPSON W e're in this game for the long haul. In an effort to weave ourselves into the community and seek out soulful stories, we have formed our first Editorial Advisory Council. It's a pretty easy gig for the members: Keep your eyes and ears open for people doing great things in the country, make sure nonprofit events are on our calendar, and watch out for new store and restaurant openings. Our main requirement is that the members must live in the area full-time. We have three inaugural members. Jamie Moreau has lived in the Round Top area for more than a decade with her husband and three daughters. She packs a master's in psychology and spent 12 years working with Texas Children's Hospital, providing sick and dying children and their families with emotional support. Once settled in the country, she became a teacher in Fayette County. As our Arts and Charity Liaison on the council, she will shine a light on nonprofits, both small and large, in our community. Kathy Young's email signature, Attorney – Retired, made her a natural to consider for the council — there's a joke in there, somewhere, about how a retired attorney is a good attorney. A Texas gal who was in the real estate business before transitioning to corporate law, she and her husband bailed from the city a few years ago and bought a farm between Round Top and Burton. Little did they know, the property was once owned by one of Round Top's first doyennes, Hazel Ledbetter. Wade Mozisek, president of Fayette Savings, is a La Grange native whose family has a rich history in Fayette County. After earning his master's degree from Texas A&M, he moved back to his hometown to raise his family and work in the family business. We'll reach out to these folks on a regular basis to see if they know some new news. If you know them, feel free to ping them with story ideas, and they can pass those along. We look forward to sharing their insights with you. Jim Kastleman Chairman jim@papercitymag.com 12
