What's New in Town and in Tiny Hamlets All Around ROUND ABOUT ROUND TOP (Continued) A girls' weekend in Round Top turned into a life-changing adventure for world traveler Vandi Hodges, who signed the lease on her new jewelry and textiles store Via Vandi on a whim just a few weeks before the Fall 2021 Round Top Antiques Show. Vandi had booked a weekend stay at the Round Top Inn in mid-September, expecting nothing more than having a good time with friends on her first visit to the fabled town. A few serendipitous trips across the road to Rummel Square resulted in the decision to snap up the space, which was soon to be vacated when Tutu & Lilli relocated to Round Top Village. "I learned that the adorable cottage might be available for rent, and the next thing I knew, I had a lease — and a deadline to get my store open before the fall show," Hodges says. "It was a miracle, honestly. The universe handed me this opportunity, so I ran with it." The Texas native had practiced the art of jewelry making in Europe and previously owned a jewelry store in Ibiza, Spain. Her mix of handmade silver and gold jewelry and textiles perfectly pairs with a recently added line of Mongolian lamb's-wool denim jackets by a Texas maker and cotton kimonos from Turkey. Candice Cowin ROUND TOP VIA IBIZA T ucked into a historic cottage in Minden Square that shares space with linen-wear authority MimiBella, next door to Round Top Brewing and Lollitop Sweetshop, is the new Tré for the Gathering, purveyors of accessories and art pieces for entertaining, gifts, and home decor. Tré founder and artist Clemencia Larimore and longtime friend and business partner Michelle Gallagher had operated solely as an online and pop-up business prior to opening the space in Round Top, showing its rotating collection of elegant, artful offerings at The Arbors during the antique shows. "After a chat last fall with Round Top mayor and Minden Square developer Mark Massey, we decided that with the vast growth and expansion in Round Top, we couldn't pass up the offer," Gallagher says. Among the wares in the sunny boutique/gallery are Larimore's limited-edition giclée printed trays with designs sourced from intricately patterned fabric molas produced by Cuna Indians in Larimore's native Colombia.
