History of the Winter Show The Round Top Antiques Show was created by Emma Lee Turney in 1968 and has grown to cover two weeks, bracketed by two weekends, in the spring and fall, with a shorter Winter Show. Year-round antiques, vintage, and design stores supplement the show-only venues. "The Winter Show is a much more personal experience," says Susan Franks, who hosted the first edition at the Original Round Top Antiques Fair, aka Big Red Barn. "Excellent quality and even more time to visit with your favorite dealers." Helen McLaren, who co-owns McLaren's Antiques & Interiors with her husband Sean, adds, "The Winter Show is a great time to be in Round Top, especially for people who have never shopped the spring and fall shows. This show gives you the time and space to really get to know this special place." Kathy Johnston, The Compound's producer and director, describes the Winter Show as an ideal occasion to plan a long weekend — and take advantage of easy shopping and great food. What to Know About the Winter Show If you've been to a spring or fall edition of the Round Top Antiques Show, you'll find many similarities: thousands of antiques, vintage furniture and accessories, rugs and textiles, paintings and sculpture, from pedigreed to industrial, mid- century modern, and nearly every other category. While the Winter Show continues to grow, what you won't find are long lines (usually). It would take a solid week of dedicated shopping to experience the entire spring or fall version; the Winter Show can be done in a day, if you're serious, or over two days, if you want to soak in the ambiance, chat with dealers, and leisurely dine. The Guide Dealers can promote what they have, and shoppers can find what they're seeking at the improved Round Top Antiques Show digital guide. The Guide includes info on where to stay and eat, in addition to the best shopping. Check it out at roundtop.com/guide, or scan the QR code below. Email info@roundtop.com.
