I f a fresh coat of paint is the easiest way to transform a room, then why is the process so daunting? That was the question Natalie and Caleb Ebel asked after years of painting their own apartments in New York. Their online paint company, Backdrop, remedies much of the hassle with genius 12" x 12" peel-and-stick swatches for choosing a hue and a tight selection of 65 colors. The Ebels revolutionized the way paint is sold, bypassing the hardware store and shipping directly to D apper designer Mark D. Sikes — whose love of big white houses, blue and white, and all things beautiful is legendary — has designed a collaboration with AnthroLiving, the home division of Anthropologie, called The Poppy Collection, and named after his French bulldog. AnthroLiving, much loved for its bohemian air and collaborations with such esoteric home brands as House of Hackney English wallpapers, went deep with Sikes' collection, issuing furniture, lighting, wallpaper, tabletop, and linens, priced $14 to $1,498. Sikes was recently tasked with redesigning First Lady Jill Biden's East Wing Office. Will he take Poppy to the White House?
