GREEN ACRES: FIVE REASONS TO HEAD TO ROUND TOP A s the calendar turns to 2 0 2 3 , w e ' r e m a k i n g plans for our next trek to Round Top as the Wi n t e r A n t i q u e s & D e s i g n S h o w o p e n s Thursday through Sunday, January 19 through 22. This is a more intimate version of the sprawling Spring and Fall Shows — and an ideal way for newbies to get acquainted with our favorite Texas hamlet and its environs, and to score unique and exciting finds. Open venues in the Round Top area include Bader Ranch, Big Daddy's Antiques, Blue Hills, Maison Sud, McLaren's Antiques & Interiors, The Compound, The Halles, The Venue, Big Red Barn, Ex-Cess I & II, Cole's Antiques Show, and the Campbell Building. While you're there, explore the great shops open year- round and the biggest estate sale in Round Top's history — internationally acclaimed A Department of Romance is at Your Beck and Call W e were invited to a cocktail party at Dallas' Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek to meet the team from Las Ventanas al Paraíso and hear about their 25th anniversary. Given that the Mansion is our home away from home, we of course accepted. The luxury resort with unparalleled service, located between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, paid homage to its Mexican heritage through a series of events and surprises to celebrate its quarter-century milestone. The heavenly desert-beach hideaway was designed to be harmoniously in tune with its surroundings. Las Ventanas prides itself on the privacy it offers guests in its 84 accommodations, including 12 signature villas and the crown jewel of the resort: the 28,000-square-foot Ty Warner Mansion with private pools and dog butlers, a dedicated Department of Romance (which vows to make guests' amorous dreams come true), and, lest we forget, the magician in residence. Food and libations top of mind? Look no further, since Las Ventanas is home to La Botica, the first speakeasy in Los Cabos, which is known for its apothecary-themed cocktails, including the Hoja Santa Smash, and the Spicy Pineapple Margarita, a classic spicy margarita with a sweet and fruity twist. The resort has four culinary experiences, including an authentic Oaxacan menu at Alebrije, the Sea Grill featuring cocina del fuego, Tequila & Ceviche Bar. and Asian-influenced Arbol. La Botica is also home of the resort's first-ever artist-in- residence, Rosalía de Cuba, her powerful voice belting out Afro-Cuban jazz medleys with hints of Eartha Kitt, Celia Cruz, and Shirley Bassey. rosewoodhotels.com/las- ventanas.
