Bootie Call P lanting roots in only the poshest of neighborhoods, luxe cowboy-boot boutique Miron Crosby has landed in the historic Lamar-River Oaks shopping center on the corner of River Oaks Boulevard, taking up residence in the former River Oaks Bookstore space. This third boutique follows shops in Dallas and Aspen; like its predecessors, the Houston salon is home to more than 46 styles of boots, all hand-cut and hand-sewn in South Texas and Léon, Mexico. Co-owners and sisters Lizzie Means Duplantis and Sarah Means also stock Native American pieces from Shiprock Santa Fe; silver money clips, belt buckles, and the like from Comstock Heritage; and western books, vintage barware, and bolos. Caitlin Hsu The Heart of the Matter W e last covered gallerist Matt Reeves of Reeves Art + Design (RAD) a year ago, when he secured a solo show for Houston provocateur of national notoriety Mark Flood. Now Reeves — who may have the best eye and most savvy market knowledge of his generation in Houston — promises to ratchet up the rizz on his coolly important Montrose art space. Cue this month's launch of what Reeves has named The Houston Art Fair and five reasons we're betting the collector crowd with flock and buy: The Houston Art Fair is home grown; the RAD venue is a historic gallery at the crossroads of the city's original art neighborhood; it's intimate, with about 40 artist-presented booths, stocked with works in many price ranges; there's free weekend admission; and the concept, Reeves says, is "grassroots, organic." The mostly Houston lineup (with some Dallas and Austin additions) includes clay lady Angel Oloshove, fiber talent Demi Kahn, painter of obsessive systems Tina Ruyi, and Pop hyperrealist Kev Madden.
