Photography Jenny Antill Clifton, Wilson Parish, Bert McClendon. O nly daring and darling gala chairmen Nicole and Evan Katz could have wielded enough influence to land iconic hip hop star and Rice University guest lecturer Bun B to perform at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Grand Gala Ball. It was a break with tradition by the gala chairs that included servings of his wildly popular Trill Burgers, grilled outdoors, in addition to the sophisticated dinner presented by City Kitchen. Bun B fit in nicely with the theme of the gala, Houston Icons, as did the locally filmed movies that were streamed and the iconic artworks lining the walls, loads of Andy Warhols among them. The evening, with gala decor by Richard Flowers and The Events Company, raised $2 million for museum coffers, with dinner music by Brandon Wattz of L.A. and high-wattage dance tunes from DJ Lucy Wrubel of Dallas.
