B y the end of the project, the collaboration had solidified into the foundation for their new firm, Shane & Pierce, working between Dallas and L.A. "We want to throw a new perspective into the Dallas market," Jordan says. "I love traditional architecture, but a lot of it feels flat — we're here to shake that up." It was a personal moment, however, that meant the most. When Jordan's parents visited from Mississippi to see the finished house, his mother cried at seeing how he had lovingly incorporated the antiques she'd given him. His father, a veteran builder, was impressed. "My dad taught me a lot during my early days of construction," Jordan says. "This was a way for me to show what I've learned and how I've grown."
