A ntiquaire made its debut last November at High Point Market in North Carolina. "The pieces are based on 18th- and 19th-century antiques from all over Europe," Weiss says. "They're inspired by Scandinavian, English, and French furniture — the rare forms that are getting more difficult to find." The Antiquaire Collection is made for the antiques lover who also values the functionality of modern furniture. The doors close, the drawers open and shut easily, and the locks work. Each piece is handcrafted in solid wood and hand-finished, and all hardware is cast by hand. Upholstered pieces are made in North Carolina and covered in Belgian linen and fine fabrics printed with the original Lillian August textile designs that were the company's calling card before expanding into furniture and home accessories. The showroom at The Halles will feature 10 pieces from the Antiquaire Collection: the Stefan secretary, Iris Serpentine chest, Genevieve nightstand, Renoir console, Gustav server, Matheo commode, Penelope chest, Verity table, Augustus cabinet, and Monet chest. Each is artfully finished in pale tones of white, blue, and gray, with the Matheo commode in bleached oak. The Halles showroom will also feature the entire catalog of Lillian August fabrics. The brand's 400 pieces of upholstery and 300 case-goods designs can also be special ordered on-site. The Lillian August showroom will be open at The Halles through the spring show, March 14 through 28. Learn more about the company at lillianaugust.com. 61
