From left, works by Leslie Lewis Sigler, at Commerce Gallery, Lockhart: Silver Spoon 285, The Midwife, 2026. Silver Pair 72, The Soul and the Spirit, 2026. Reputation L ockhart boasts a buzzy art space that rims its historic town square: Commerce Gallery, which has been dishing up Texas art since 2019. This month, San Marcos native/UT BFA grad Leslie Lewis Sigler returns from California in "Homecoming." Besides the prowess evident in her photorealist canvases, Sigler's subject matter caught our design-focused eye. Honoring traditions of the American table, especially formal occasions where the best silver was brought out, she focuses on antique and heirloom sterling. Classic silver patterns and pedigreed makers star in Sigler's painted universe — Gorham's Rococo-styled Chantilly, one of the most popular patterns ever introduced, as well as its Buttercup, both still in production; the highly collectible Lily by Whiting, a hallmark of the Art Nouveau era; and the florid scrollwork of Lucerne by 12 Sterling OBSESSIONS. DECORATION. SALIENT FACTS. Wallace, whose production spanned a century, 1896 to 1996. On view June 5 – 30; artist reception Friday, June 5, 5 to 8 pm. Commerce Gallery, 102 S. Commerce St., Lockhart, thecommercegallery.com. Catherine D. Anspon
