For me, it's all about the two very wise men, Tony Bradfield and Kevin Black, who head up the multifaceted efforts at posh and pedigreed Tenenbaum & Co., which is known for purveying exceptional estate jewelry. And, of course, when you deal in icy elements such as 50-carat diamonds, a frosty winter's eve hardly fazes. If anything, it furthered the night's theme: Noël Bleu. And so it was, with decked halls and a fabulous — and warm — tent pitched at the Post Oak emporium, that clients and friends alike were welcomed for an evening of holiday cheer. Passed hors d'oeuvres from Tony's makes anyone beam like a canary diamond, and a jazz ensemble crooned holiday songs. After I met my capacity for miniature beef Wellingtons, I gave the immaculate jewelry cases a once-over. Catching my eye: sublime mogul bangles from India with rose-cut diamonds, as well as a Salavetti gold sapphire and diamond Iris tremblant brooch with some 160 carats of blue sapphires and 14 carats of diamonds. But the delight of the night was finding a little oriental figure brooch rendered in blanc de chine, tucked away in a back case. The brooch's central china figure was embellished with a gold hat, complete with pearls on top, and wore a skillfully made 24K frock outfitted with rubies, from which small baroque pearls hung. Saint Nick, wicked old man that he is, failed me, as it was nowhere in sight Christmas morn.
