The season kicked off at the Houston Polo Club with Toss for Texas Children's, a beanbag- toss tournament benefitting Texas Children's Heart Center that gave the classic tailgating game a philanthropic update. Dr. Charles Fraser, chief of congenital heart surgery, shared both his gratitude and heartwarming stories of children treated by the hospital. Children's champions: co-chairs Leslie and Michael Fertitta and Carolyn and David Anderson, John Peck, Allison Mantor, Mike Hoffman, Elizabeth Dudley, Mary Sommers Pyne, Marion Liedtke, and Ellen Ford. Texas Children's saw more beneficiaries at the fifth annual Texas Children's Ambassadors Holiday Party, which celebrated the $1.85 million raised by the Ambassadors for the hospital. The warm winter night proved the perfect occasion for guests to celebrate outdoors at a River Oaks Boulevard green space owned by Melissa and Brad Juneau. Dr. Mark Kline, physician-in-chief at Texas Children's, expressed his appreciation while announcing that the hospital celebrates its 60th anniversary this month.
