AUGUST | PAGE 12 | 2014 Re-entrée — a French term used to describe re-entering the social and cultural season after summer sojourns. PaperCity editors and some of our favorite compatriots have compiled a compendium of where to be and what to see, acquire, eat, read and admire throughout the season — all the compelling reasons you'll need to get dressed and go out. CHIC IS COMING! Karl Lagerfeld coming to Dallas! RE-ENTRÉE TO FALL STEPHEN SUMMERS Managing director, Highland Park Village Rocking to. It's all Lenny Kravitz, all the time. On the tube. I've gotten really into Scandal recently, and Veep is super funny. In concert. Paul McCartney is playing American Airlines Center Monday, October 13 — and that's kind of incredible. A chance to see a living legend is super exciting. I'd love to get his daughter to do an appearance in Highland Park Village. Reservations. Oak and Spoon. A gargantuan painting of pastry, Play-Doh epically scaled in bronze and porn-star-and- artist mating rituals depicted in canvas or marble are some of the succulent offerings — all super-sized — in the Whitney Museum of American Art's big blow-out retrospective for Jeff Koons (through October 19). Catch it in Manhattan, with an accompanying 50,000-blossom topiary installed at Rockefeller Center (through September 12). Catherine D. CAPERA RYAN Senior VP, Managing Director, Southwest Region, Christie's IN THE SPIRIT. S ince last November, when I met famed fashion photographer Mario Testino at his New York exhibition opening, with Dallas Contemporary executive director Peter Doroshenko, I've waited for this show. Testino will be in Dallas for the invitation-only opening night of "Alta Moda by Mario Testino," held the evening before the public exhibition opening (September 21 – December 21). The Dallas Contemporary's white-wall gallery space will transform into a black, pink and red walled backdrop for the oversized Peruvian portraits — a nod to Testino's heritage. dallascontemporary.org. W hether it's a far-flung holiday or a hop, skip and jump escape for a couple of nights, I'm up for traveling anytime. On my list are two stunning new hotels. First is Point Yamu by COMO in Phuket, Thailand. Como plays out peaceful, zen, calm surrounds better than many, and this new property looks like worthy of the long flight. Closer to home, Zero George Street in Charleston is a neat concept: The 18- room property, built within five restored townhouses, comes with its own low- country cooking school and scenic Southern veranda. Laurann Claridge Point Yamu in Phuket Zero George Street in Charleston Zero George Street in Charleston Paper, Scissors, Ball. British contemporary art curators known as The Future Tense are back in Dallas with artist Adam Ball (a fellow Brit), showcasing more than a dozen new works, including large canvases and paper cutouts, in "The Space Between" at The Goss-Michael Foundation. If you attended MTV ReDefine in May, you may recall Ball's "DNA Mural." Accompanied by a catalog, this show marks The Future Tense's exclusive publishing of Ball's first-ever etching edition, produced in conjunction with Thumbprint Editions (who do the etchings for Anish Kapoor, Damien Hirst and Marc Quinn). Short and sweet, this exhibition only runs September 4 through October 4, so don't miss it. Max Trowbridge Books. Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All by Tom Kelley (I heard him speak at Aspen Ideas Festival) and Thrive by Arianna Huffington. Must-shop. Aspen Chanel pop-up shop. Best nights out. TACA auction with Christie's as auctioneer. I'm also looking forward to the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute exhibition at the Shanghai Museum in their Ando building and the Musée d'Orsay paintings coming to the Kimbell Art Museum in October; I'll be hosting their patrons in Dallas. Lenny Kravitz TINA CRAIG Co-founder, Snob Global Media Reading. Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch, the most powerful book I have read in a decade. Movie. The Crossing by famed director John Woo. It's a story about the sinking of the Taiping — aka the Chinese Titanic. Cheering for. The team with the chicest uniform on the field. Reservations. FT33. Keys. I'm looking into electric cars, specifically a Tesla, because I am notorious for running out of gas on the tollway. Best night out. The 10th anniversary of Heroes for Children. Chanel Chanel Aspen New cafeteria. Claim your spot at the cool kids' lunch table now: Grange Hall is opening a 50-seat eatery in the newly expanded Travis Street shop — otherwise known as my new lunchtime meeting place.
