ANNE LEE PHILLIPS REPORTS FROM THE CHARITABLE RUNWAY. PHOTOGRAPHY JASON MORTEL, DANIEL ORTIZ, MICHELLE WATSON, ZARLA WILLIAMS. IS ALWAYS IN FASHION PHILANTHROPY APRIL | PAGE 30 | 2015 DAPPER DANDIES At M. Penner, Karen and Murry Penner, with chairs Leisa Holland- Nelson and Laura Max Nelson, tapped local male influencers to walk alongside models in a fashion show benefitting Recipe 4 Success. Walking the runway: Scott Bayley, Alberto Cardenas Jr., Stephen Chen, Charles Clark, Ben Harwood Rose, John Guess Jr., Michael Pearce, Jeff Shell and Randy Sim, all wearing black socks with a cheeky R4S logo, designed by Vivek Nagrani — fitting for the rock 'n' roll theme of "Rock your socks off." Two pairs autographed by George H.W. Bush were hot auction items. Following the show, a VIP dinner was held at The Tasting Room. Cheering on the gents: R4S founder Gracie Cavnar, with husband Bob making a fashionably late arrival in a leather jacket and kilt; Yvonne Cormier; Neal Hamil; Lauren and Paul Grossbard; Kim Padgett; and Ileana and Michael Trevino. CATWALKING KIDDOS It doesn't get any cuter than a children's fashion show. Tots toddled and pre-teens pranced down the runway in spring styles from Neiman Marcus at the Houston Symphony Children's Fashion Show and Luncheon, rousing much applause from the 300 proud parents, kids and patrons at the annual luncheon benefitting the symphony's education and community engagement programming. For the Alice in Wonderland theme, The Events Company designed each table at the River Oaks Country Club with an adventure from the classic book (the rabbit hole, the looking glass and the March hare were all represented). Admiring the bright young things: chairs Susan and Dick Hansen and Brittany and Travis Cassin; honorary chairs Courtney and Bill Toomey; and Nancy Bihlmaier, Ting and John Bresnahan, Divya and Chris Brown, Betty and John Hrncir, Susan and Fayez Sarofim, Betty Tutor, and Vicki West. STYLIN' SWEETHEARTS Philanthropic power couples took to the runway at Tootsies for the annual Love's in Fashion event benefitting Dec My Room. Chair quartet Joanna and Brad Marks and Hannah and Cal McNair (he, the Houston Texans vice chairman) took their turns on the runway, as did honorary chairs, DMR founding prez Susan Plank and husband Mike. The Texans cheerleaders and mascot Toro drew raucous cheers from the crowd of 350, as did several players who walked with significant others, including Megan and Brian Cushing, Kareem Jackson with Amber Deville, Brooks Reed with Natalie Petratis, Ericka and Garrett Graham, Erin and Shane Lechler, Mallory and Cody White, and former player Chester Pitts with wife LaToya. Sartorial supporters: Tootsies owner Mickey Rosmarin and creative fashion director Fady Armanious; Sue and Lester Smith; Kelly Raley; Kendall Plank; Lindsay Holt; and Lucinda and Javier Loya.
