RDA Celebrates William D. Kendall What: DRAW, the Rice Design Alliance Gala. Where: Hilton Americas- Houston. Who: Chair Barbara Amelio; auction chairs Andrea and Oliver Sanchez; honorary chair Gerald Hines and wife Barbara; RDA prez Carrie Glassman Shoemake, who recognized Sharon Kendall, wife of the late William D. Kendall, with an award; guests Charlotte and Larry Whaley, Linda and Dick Sylvan, and Joyce and Larry Lander. PC Moment: More than 900 celebrated the life and work of Kendall, a Houston architectural legend. Inside the Hilton's Grand Ballroom, two dozen 15-by-8-foot banners displayed the iconic buildings on which Kendall and his internationally renowned firm Kendall/Heaton collaborated. The "environment committee" (Shoemake, Jory Alexander, and Wayne Braun) dreamed up dinner tables covered in sketch paper and set with arrangements of pencils and sharpeners in an architectural homage.
