Celebrating the pattern's global appeal, Hermès introduces the Voyage en Ikat ceremonial dinner service. Made in Limoges in France, the white porcelain is decorated by Hermès craftsmen in more than 20 hues of jewel tones, and hand-applied 24K matte gold. The result plays tricks with the eye while borrowing colors and patterns from Japanese art and textiles. One highlight is a Venetian slant on camouflage: Instead of foliage, the pattern blends the imagery of water and islands. Fortuny's version of marbled stone can be seen in Marmo; both Camo and Marmo line up side to side in five sections, making it appear that the pattern never repeats. Mining eBay for the originals turned up precious few, so we were amazed and delighted to discover the new Dodie Thayer for Tory Burch collection of lettuce ware, meticulously recreated from the originals.
