FORTUNY'S JAPANESE FABLE DECORATION I kat, a complex woven pattern of dyed textiles with a storied history in both Eastern and Western cultures, has long been associated with wealth and prosperity. Celebrating the pattern's global appeal, Hermès introduces the Voyage en Ikat ceremonial dinner service. Made in Limoges in France, the white porcelain is decorated by Hermès craftsmen in more than 20 hues of jewel tones, and hand-applied 24K matte gold. Plates, platters and bowls on elevated bases stack to evoke a lotus flower and transform into a classic French dinner service when paired with the tall cup and saucer, soup tureen and vase. $290 to $2,960, at the Hermès boutique and Neiman Marcus. Anne Lee Phillips AT YOUR SERVICE: HERMÈS PORCELAIN COLLECTION F or its first new collection in more than two years, fabled fabric house Fortuny draws inspiration from the Japanese folklore of The Fox's Wedding. The result plays tricks with the eye while borrowing colors and patterns from Japanese art and textiles. One highlight is a Venetian slant on camouflage: Instead of foliage, the pattern blends the imagery of water and islands. Fortuny's version of marbled stone can be seen in Marmo; both Camo and Marmo line up side to side in five sections, making it appear that the pattern never repeats. Rounding out the new collection are two additional patterns, two archival patterns and seven existing ones in new colorways. To the trade at Ellouise Abbott Showroom. Anne Lee Phillips I n the 1960s, potter Dodie Thayer's lettuce-ware canapé and luncheon plates, cups and bowls were the rage and appeared on every hostess' table from Palm Beach to Amagansett. C. Z. Guest, the Duchess of Windsor and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis were avid collectors — and now we are, too. Mining eBay for the originals turned up precious few, so we were amazed and delighted to discover the new Dodie Thayer for Tory Burch collection of lettuce ware, meticulously recreated from the originals. Thayer had taught herself to cast from real lettuce and cabbage leaves, which she would glaze on Thursday nights and on Friday morning, deliver to Au Bon Gout boutique in Palm Beach. The recreated collection is delicately cast in the same lettuce-leaf shapes, hand- finished and glazed in vivid Napoli green. $88 for a set of four canape plates to $148 for a set of four soup bowls, at the Tory Burch boutique, and at toryburch.com.
