D unhill Partners, led by the ambitious, larger-than-life real estate developer Bill Hutchinson, made headlines when it purchased a massive swath of the Dallas Design District last year. Since then, Dunhill has been busy, signing a raft of exciting new tenants, and PaperCity has the exclusive scoop. Executive VP Andy Crosland tells us innovative German outdoor furniture company Dedon, famous for its weatherproof handwoven chairs and tables, is slated to open mid-summer in the former J. Robert Scott space … California- based Made Goods, which specializes in custom statement furnishings for designers and boutiques, opens this fall next door to George Cameron Nash showroom … Peacock Home, founded by celebrated British kitchen designer Christopher Peacock, is slated to open late summer or early fall, along with Paris Ceramics, internationally known for reclaiming and preserving antique tile, stone, mosaics and wood flooring and surfaces. Both will occupy the 5,000-square-foot space formerly home to Herman Miller, on the corner of Hi Line Drive and Oak Lawn Avenue. Holland & Sherry, which shared a small space inside David Sutherland, opens a freestanding showroom this month on Hi Line Drive … Look for Robert Haas Motorcycle Gallery to open in October on Dragon Street, a collection of rare and custom motorcycles and custom-designed leather motorcycle gear, owned by Dallas entrepreneur, investor and adventurer Robert Haas. The gallery will be open to the public … Also in the District, Dallas' first dedicated B&B Italia showroom is under construction next door to Roche Bobois on Hi Line Drive and slated to open mid-to-late July, says showroom manager Iñigo Rey. Both locations are owned by Houston-based Internum … Beloved 69-year-old Elliott's Hardware opened a 17,000-square-foot new store in the District mid-April across from Crate & Barrel Outlet on Inwood Road. Interior designers will be thrilled about the expanded selection of decorative hardware and paint section that includes Benjamin Moore, Valspar, Plutonium and Mohawk professional finishes. Rebecca Sherman EXCLUSIVE D enise A. Tuite's Diego Giacometti collection is inspired by the work of the legendary Swiss sculptor and designer, who was the younger brother of Alberto Giacometti. Working in bronze, brass, polished stainless steel, iron, glass and marble, New Jersey-based Tuite channels Giacometti's love of nature in her own tables, lighting and other furnishings. Their company may be based in Los Angeles, with multiple showrooms across the country, but they're smitten with our fair city. "They unexpectedly fell in love with Dallas," says showroom director Kelsey Ann Haley. She and lawyer Jennifer Cloud of Private Label Realty, who brokered the deal on their Design District showroom last fall, have been driving de Merry and Darnaud-Maroselli through the most well-heeled neighborhoods in search of new digs. Almost no locale is off limits, from Highland Park (where most of their clients reside) to Uptown (they adore the Katy Trail), Downtown (for its proximity to museums and Klyde Warren Park) and Oak Cliff (near their favorite restaurants, most notably Stock & Barrel). Darnaud-Maroselli says, "What made us think about a pièd-à-terre in Dallas is the warm welcome we received from all the people we've met. The lifestyle here is very Southern, artsy but nevertheless sophisticated without being pompous. It has the best food I have yet to find on American soil — high praise. The International's focus will continue to be on furniture showrooms — Allan Knight Associates is an anchor tenant — but more specifically on high-end office furniture, an untapped resource in the Design District, according to Stockdale COO Joe Pastora, who says, "We're excited to be a part of the Design District revolution."
