20 THE BIG REVEAL LUNCHING LADIES SHOW OSCAR DE LA RENTA THE LOVE. Shelby Hodge is feeling very stylish. Photography Jenny Antill Clifton, Wilson Parish, Michelle Watson. F lowers in the garden, fl owers on the tables, and blossoms printed on springtime frocks … The Bayou Bend Luncheon abounded in fl oral inspira- tion. Oscar de la Renta, the designer du jour, had much to do with the petal fetish, as many of the label's spring designs are awash in fl orals. The fashion fl ock's devotion had de la Renta CEO Alex Bolen and wife, Eliza Bolen (stepdaughter of the late designer and the company's executive vice president), in high spirits. The duo jetted in from New York not only for the runway show, but to announce that the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, would present an Oscar de la Renta retrospective in the fall. The Bolens' longtime chums, MFAH director Gary Tinterow and Lynn Wyatt, joined luncheon chair Phoebe Tudor at her foot-of- the-runway table. Following the luncheon and fashion presentation, which was underwritten by The Galleria/Simon Properties, the ladies headed to the lovely Saks Fifth Avenue pop- up-shop overlooking the gardens and the Diana Fountain. "So, this is a preview of the fashion that we hope to see you in in Cullinan Hall next fall," Tinterow quipped.
