More than 150 varieties of Champagne will complement an American menu of seasonal seafood, local greens, prime meat, and an expansive raw bar … Master sommelier David Keck (formerly Camerata at Paulie's) abandons wine for his newest project: a Houston honky-tonk dubbed Goodnight Charlie's, which he'll open with partner Peter McCarthy at 2531 Kuester Street in the fall. Live country, bluegrass, and Zydeco music pairs with Texas beers, simple cocktails, and a modest Mexican- centric menu created by local chef (and Master Chef contestant) Alvin Schutz … Ireland native Ian Tucker brings his culinary chops to Houston with two new dining concepts set to open this year. The first, a burger and beer joint named Balls Out Burger, opens this spring at 1603 North Durham Drive. In the fall, Tucker's posh cocktail bar and restaurant Poitín opens at Sawyer Yards … Beloved Austin eatery Tacodeli has debuted its first Houston location at 1902 Washington Avenue, neighboring B&B Butchers and Platypus Brewing. Snag the signature Mexico-inspired street tacos from 7 am to 3 pm — this taco haven isn't open for dinner … Helen Greek Food and Wine takes over the recently closed Arthur Ave space at 1111 Studewood Street with its second iteration: Helen in the Heights. Sommelier Evan Turner, director of Operations Tim Faiola, executive chef William Wright, and chef de cuisine Mercedes Gomez lead the Greek tavern. Jailyn Marcel Restaurant BUZZ E verything Karl Lagerfeld touches — Chanel, Fendi — turns to fashion gold. Anne Lee Phillips Cooling Off with KARL Ian Tucker at the future home of Balls Out Burger QUY TRAN A storied Japanese garment is getting a new look thanks to Tina Zulu — creative to the fashion, art, and indie restaurant set — who hatched her own fashion label last fall. Kimono Zulu is a response to Zulu's Filipina-American heritage and fascination with vintage. The kimonos, sourced from Japan and circa the 1920s through the 1990s, are updated thanks to a collaborator from the Houston art world: Selven O'Keef Jarmon, a talent who is both a fashion designer as well as artist. His CV includes exhibitions at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Project Row Houses, and RISD Art Museum. Jarmon's 360 Degrees Vanishing will encase Art League Houston's building in a mammoth beaded curtain Kimonos ROCK Tina Zulu wears Kimono Zulu Selven O'Keef Jarmon JENNY ANTILL CLIFTON CRISTIE WILLIAMS later this year. This month, Zulu and Jarmon present a trunk show at Cindy Lisica Gallery, pairing the Kimono Zulu collection with an exhibition by French- born Houston painter Emilie Duval, whose architectural canvases reference globalism. Other kimono collaborations include master drawer Rene Cruz (recently on view at Art Palace) and L.A.-based Elijah Coccetti. Anspon S kelton St. John, purveyor of Italian, French, and Swedish antiques, is merging with Watkins Culver, home to French and Italian antiques and decorative accessories. The new shop, dubbed Skelton – Culver, is in the formerly named Watkins Culver locale at 2308 Bissonnet … Room and Board is coming to Texas.
