Anne Lee Phillips Cooling Off with KARL Ian Tucker at the future home of Balls Out Burger QUY TRAN A storied Japanese garment is getting a new look thanks to Tina Zulu — creative to the fashion, art, and indie restaurant set — who hatched her own fashion label last fall. Kimono Zulu is a response to Zulu's Filipina-American heritage and fascination with vintage. The kimonos, sourced from Japan and circa the 1920s through the 1990s, are updated thanks to a collaborator from the Houston art world: Selven O'Keef Jarmon, a talent who is both a fashion designer as well as artist. His CV includes exhibitions at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Project Row Houses, and RISD Art Museum.
