collected for 50 years, including Italian marbleized. "When I do my collages, sometimes the paper isn't fully glued down, so the edges show. I don't want to lose the paper-ness of it," he says. "I love butcher paper. I joke that I want to be buried in kraft paper." His collections are droll and pumped with personality, so it's no surprise that he's occasionally requested to put similar collections together for clients. "People ask if I can do it for them, and I always tell them, 'I can get you the sofas and chairs, but I can't collect all this for you.' Clients have to have interests of their own for it to work." The charming home that Helmcamp and Jeanmard have created for themselves illustrates that point exactly. "This house wasn't designed for resale," says Jeanmard. "It's completely personal to us." 72
