Kicking off the season is United Way as the organization celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society Wednesday, September 6, at the Omni Dallas Hotel. As founder of the Tocqueville Society, Altshuler will be honored at the luncheon — and in these pages with a special appearance on page 160 as our September Bomb.Com girl. Also commemorating a milestone is The Art Community Alliance (TACA) with its 50th Anniversary Gala at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek on Friday, September 8. The glamorous black-tie affair is the culmination of a year's worth of anniversary fêtes toasting five decades of support for the arts community. We take a look back at TACA's efforts over the years, including its first-ever auction — a wild, televised dial-for-dollars extravaganza — on page 148. You'll also want to mark you calendars for these noteworthy events: Harvest benefitting North Texas Food Bank on Friday, September 15; the 2017 Dallas Symphony Gala Concert and After Party featuring Yo Yo Ma on Saturday, September 16; and the Runway Report Luncheon and Style Show benefitting Kidney Texas on Tuesday, September 26. On the design front, the October 2 entry deadline is fast approaching for our Dallas PaperCity Design Awards, set for Wednesday, November 1, in the Dallas Design District. The awards are open to all Dallas-area design professionals, in such categories as residential interior design, commercial, landscape, preservation and product. Beautiful coverage of the winning proj- ects will be featured in our January issue and online.
